  • a quick update

Wow. I just saw that I haven't posted anything since spring! Well, a lot has happened since then.

I've attended 5 weddings (all since June) one of which was my brothers. Joshua and Anna got married at the end of July. As a family we planned and pulled off their wedding in just under 2 weeks. It was a small ceremony with mainly family and a few friends. My mother is currently pulling together a reception for the larger family and friends they weren't able to invite to their small ceremony.

Galen and I made the decision to send me back to school "hard and fast". My hope is to enter clinicals this spring at HACC in Lebanon and graduate with an associates degree in nursing the following spring. This semester I am taking Anatomy and Physiology 1 and Microbiology at HACC while working on my College Network CLEP exams. I'm hoping to decrease the amount of nursing classes that I'll have to take at HACC and save a little money. It's a lot of work taking these 2 tough science classes at the same time but I really want to finish this education process and get on with the career changes I've been dreaming of.

As a result of the decision to finish school, I stepped down from the role of youth leader. It was a tough change for me. I do really miss the kids. But... it is a different season. One had to end for a new season to begin.

I am continuing to work, though a little less than before. I am doing one 16 hour shift and one other shift. I have been getting quite a bit of homework done overnight at work. It is exciting to be able to work while continuing my education and still study an adequate amount.

Basically that's it. Right now I study, study, study, go to work, spend limited but precious time with family and close friends and attempt to find the time to get to the gym. It's a busy and not so glamorous life but it is good.

  • Well the fact that I haven't posted (even pictures of the ever adorable Hailie) is a testament to busyness. When I last posted I was working at least 2 16 hour shifts per week plus some other random normal shifts. Since then I have continued to work the 16s but the hours have changed and it's now overnight. This has been a hard adjustment for me. I didn't used to think that simply sleeping together counted as "quality time" but now that I'm away at least 2 nights per week I find that I really miss sleeping at the same time as Galen.

I've been trying to work on my Nursing program more and think that I may be ready for my A&P I&II exam by the end of the semester.

Family continues to be at the top of my priority list. We manage to spend at least one evening or day per week with my family. We were out there quite a bit after a winter storm made tree removal (to the tune of 5ish big trees) imperative. Galen and Dad did most of the hard work with some help from us girls when it came to pulling the trees down. There were some scary moments but we're all alive and un-squashed.

Hailie continues to grow and is walking along furniture and talking a mile-a-minute. She just had her 1st birthday and we had a party last Saturday.

There is a lot more going on but I haven't the time to tell it all. We are happy, healthy and busy. This about covers it. My love to you all. Spring is coming! yeah!

  • The soap opera that is our lives continues. Thank God for a strong family to go through discouraging times with.

Galen and I went to a cute little bed and breakfast for our anniversary on the 3rd. It was wonderful to spend that time together. We needed to just have some down time together. It was the first time we went anywhere for our anniversary. Did I mention that it was wonderful? With my psychotic work schedule we don't see a lot of each other during the week and we're pretty busy on weekends with playoffs and storms that bring down trees etc.

Sometimes I feel like all I do is work, go to the gym and watch football! But I have a good life. I really do. I have wonderful friends, family, a good job and the best husband ever. Thank God for all He's given me.

This week I work almost 50 hours. It'll be a busy one. This past week I put in 42 hours in 3 days. I'm tired but the paychecks are going to be sweet this month!

Football and my friends beckon. I may not post for a while between my crazy hours and manic internet. Have a great January!

  • Our time at the youth workers convention was really good. It was a time of spiritual renewal and an opening of our eyes to ways God wants to move in our lives and in our youth group. We went with On Fire youth ministry and had a great time with their staff. I went into the weekend with very little sleep from double shifts and came home with a sleep deficit only to go back to 2 long days Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanksgiving was a fun time with family. Hailie kept everyone entertained with all of the new things she can do. I came down with a cold on Wednesday and am still battling that. Friday I slept until 1pm, about 13 or 14 hours. I really needed it. It's been good to have several days off to recuperate etc. because tomorrow I jump right back in with doubles Tues. & Wed. and 8 hrs on Friday. Today I'm working on youth group stuff and homework. And maybe a nap.
